The first 24 hours after a crypto scam: what to do right now

HireCyberZ Team· 11 Jun 2026· 1 min read

The sooner funds are traced, the better the odds. If it just happened, work through this checklist.

Do now

1. Stop all further payments. 2. Screenshot the platform, chats and your transactions. 3. Note every wallet address and transaction ID. 4. Report it to your bank if a card or transfer was involved. 5. Get the funds traced.

Do not

Do not pay any "release fee", and be wary of anyone who contacts you promising to recover your money for an upfront payment — that is a second scam targeting victims.
